The work has afforded employment to an army of professional and laboring men,as many as eight thousand five hundred persons having been engaged at one time. The Cars. The cars are constructed exclusively of steel and carborundum, and areabsolutely fireproof. The trains are vestibuled and the cars divided into sections;entrance to and exit therefrom is obtained through sliding doors at both ends and inthe center of each car. A train is made up of eight cars, forming a complete compressed airsystem, automatically signaling the motorman to go ahead, when every car door inthe train has been securely closed.
