Summary
[edit]DescriptionHoyland Road, Neepsend, Sheffield - geograph.org.uk - 1035093.jpg |
English: Hoyland Road, Neepsend, Sheffield. The dark grey brick wall has been around for many years and holds back what was originally waste land. Modern Industrial Units - one of which is visible - have now been built on this land. The red brick wall is more recent but I'm not sure what it is for! The low grey wall in the distance is the original Hillfoot School wall ... sadly, other than the 'Boys' gate are no remains of the school. The one remaining Neepsend Gasometer, is off picture, opposite this area. The graffiti football goals could have been there for a hundred years as the 1905 Ordnance Survey map shows a row of 24 Terrace Houses where the grass now lies. How the kids in those houses would have loved to have had grass to play on! 1035130 1035119 1035068 |
