[edit]Howard C. Platts. Holbrook, Massachusetts; January 9, 1943. Howard Carleton Platts of Rutherford, N.J., passed away early yesterday after a brief illness. He was born in Holbrook, June 16, 1884, son of the late Howard and Anne (Thayer) Platts. After attending local public schools and Thayer Academy he was graduated from Harvard in 1905. For the past 35 years he made his home in Rutherford. He is survived by his widow, Irene (Horton) Platts, and three children, Mrs. John Lindauer, Bloomfield, N.J., Howard H. Platts, Holyoke, and Thayer H. Platts, now serving in the merchant marine; three grandchildren, John Lindauer, Thayer Lindauer and Carolyn M. Platts; four sisters, Miss Catharine Platts, Miss Ruth Platts and Miss Mildred Platts, and Mrs. John H. Card, all of Holbrook, at whose home he was a frequent visitor. Funeral services will be held in Rutherford, N.J., tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock with committal services at Mount Vernon cemetery, North Abington, Monday afternoon at 4 o'clock.

For the past 35 years he made his home in Rutherford. He is survived by his widow, Irene Horton, and three children, Louise Horton Platts, Bloomfield, New Jersey; Howard H. Platts, Holyoke, Massachusetts; and Thayer H. Platts, now serving in the merchant marine; three grandchildren, John Lindauer, Thayer Lindauer and Carolyn M.
