[edit]DescriptionHow it used to be in Porthgain - geograph.org.uk - 1266025.jpg |
English: How it used to be in Porthgain Information board illustration shows the granite hoppers which supplied 12 different sizes of crushed road stone from 3 inches down to powder. Ships would be loaded directly from the hoppers via a chute.
In the foreground the brick works is shown, with the kiln and its chimney and the drying sheds. On the left is the mill and on the right the lime kiln. Work ceased abruptly in 1931 when the company went into receivership and the last load of stone left the harbour in 1934. |
