English: Built in the 1930's by the Civilian Conservation Corps. 24 foot tall letters built of local boulders and whitewashed. It was set as an aerial landmark.

English: The letters in the sign have been permanently cemented. Over the years they had been rearranged several times. In 1980 after the Iran hostage situation it was changed to TEHRAN. Before the local Houston Hoedown Days Celebration. local citizens saw the sign rearranged to say STONED.
