English: Houses in East Bank Here we see the houses facing The Bowling Green pub at the bottom of East Bank before it joins Main Street. Sturdily built from the local gritstone and limestone with small windows and practical chimneys, they were designed to cope with upland weather conditions. The house in the foreground was once a butcher's shop and others may have been shops too. |
