Summary
[edit]DescriptionHouse at Springdell.JPG |
English: House at Springdell on the NRHP since September 16, 1985. On Pennsylvania Route 841 in the hamlet of Springdell (4 houses), in West Marlborough Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania. Eighteenth century house built according to William Penn's "Penn Plan" which he proposed for houses in his proprietary colony. House may be associated with James Fitzgerald, Continental Army deserter, who served with British forces during the Battle of Brandywine and looted the surrounding region (including the area around Springdell), and was hung by Continental forces in September, 1778. Fitzpatrick might also have been known as "Sandy Flash" but a lot about Flash seems to have been invented for tourism purposes. |
