Summary
[edit]DescriptionHothfield Lake - geograph.org.uk - 202092.jpg |
English: Hothfield Lake. The lake was created in 1851 with the damming of Pigs Brook, a tributary of the Great Stour. The work was carried out at the behest of Lord Hothfield whose mansion, Hothfield Place, was demolished in 1954. Water from the lake was used to turn a waterwheel at the estate farm. Over the years the lake turned into marshy woodland but was dredged in 2004. |
