Summary
[edit]DescriptionHotel sign, Coverack - geograph.org.uk - 1265266.jpg |
English: Hotel sign, Coverack This hotel was built by Redruth Brewery in 1907 and was named after the
liner SS PARIS which ran aground on the headland on Whit Monday 1899. This was a transatlantic twin screw liner that was perhaps most famous for suffering a catastrophic engine failure. Lithographs of the carnage in the engine room are most impressive. (I must thank Rod Allday who supplied the information in the first sentence.) |
