| Description |
English: Bayne, Washington, first settled in 1909, was located seven miles northeast of Enumclaw. The town existed primarily to exploit the coal and clay resources of the area. It was named by the Northern Pacific Railroad for George G. Bayne who discovered and developed the local coal mine. Bayne was vice-president and general manager of the Carbon Coal & Clay Company which owned the mine and the local hotel. This photographic postcard, probably made in the 1910s, shows the hotel in Bayne, Washington. Judging by its simple exterior, it probably catered to coal company employees. Original title: Hotel.
