Description
English:

The Rainier Hotel on 5th Avenue between Columbia and Marion STreets was erected quickly following the 1889 Seattle fire, which destroyed much of the downtown hotel space. Never a financial success, the Rainier was razed around 1910.

Caption on image: Hotel Rainier. Photo by LaRoche, 709 2nd St. Handwritten on verso: Ca. 1892. Typed on verso: Rainier Hotel built following the fire of 1889 on block bounded by 5th, 6th, Marion and Columbia streets, never a success as it was too far away from business section.
