| Description | Das Hotel Carola war (wahrscheinlich) in der zweiten Hälfte des 19. Jahrhunderts als „Hotel Deutsches Haus“ entstanden, siehe Anzeige im Adressbuch 1894. Nach einem Brand am 2. Dezember 1899 (Ernst Flath: Geschichte von Schönheide, Schönheide o.J. [wohl 1910], S. 259) wurde es neu errichtet und nach der sächsischen Königin Carola benannt. Diese war auch die Namensgeberin der im Jahr 1900 durch sie eröffneten Volksheilstätte Carolagrün für tuberkulosekranke Frauen. Zur Zeit der DDR war das Haus Kantine und „Kulturhaus“ des „VEB Bürstenwerke Schönheide” (Flamingo). Sein Saal war für Theater- und vor allem für Tanzveranstaltungen geeignet. Nach 1990 kam die Baulichkeit in die Hand eines ortsfremden Menschen, der es als Hotel und Gaststätte verpachtete. Von den späten 1990er/2000er Jahren an stand das Gebäude leer. Um 2019 wurden Hotel und Gaststätte wieder eröffnet, die Gaststätte unter dem Namen „Restaurant zur alten Laterne“. |
