Hooseinabad Gateway. Gateway to the tomb of Muhammad Ali Shah, who erected here his own tomb in 1837. The florid excess of stucco ornamentation is but one sign of the decay of Indian architecture in modern days. One of the most popular architectural locations in early photography of India, this gateway could also be read as exemplifying the creativity and flexibility of Indian architecture in the early 19th century for its blend of architectural styles |
