Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Horsey Mill At this time of the year both the mill and the nearby café and gift shop are closed (to open again end of February). It is quite an unusual sight to see the moorings empty of boats and the place so empty of people. The present four storey mill was built in 1912, but a mill has stood on the site for over 200 years. The fully restored windpump, owned by the National Trust, is the only NT property in the Norfolk Broads which is open regularly. Horsey used to be a hotbed of smuggling and the sails of windmills were used for signalling in order to warn of approaching customs and excise men.
