Summary
[edit]DescriptionHordeum leporinum plant1 (7174377775).jpg |
Erect grass to 20 cm tall. A native of the Mediterranean, it is a weed of disturbed or bare areas (e.g. sheep camps, stock yards, cropping, stream banks and roadsides); mostly south from the Hunter Valley. In pastures it is most common in sheep and horse paddocks. Prefers good fertility and is sensitive to soil acidity. Limited occurrence on the coast due to its sensitivity to acid soils. Seeds can irritate the mouths and eyes of animals and cause vegetable fault in wool. |
