English: Wayside shrine at the market square of Hopsten, Kreis Steinfurt, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is a listed cultural heritage monument.
Deutsch: Bildstock auf dem Marktplatz von Hopsten, Kreis Steinfurt, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Deutschland. Das teilweise stark verwitterte Kunstwerk stammt aus dem 18. Jahrhundert. Über dem altarartigen Postament erhebt sich zurückgesetzt das Sandsteinrelief im geschweiften Rahmen. Die eine Seite des Oberteils zeigt eine Pietà (Foto), die andere den Gekreuzigten über der Stätte Golgatha. Laut Denkmalliste ist der Bildstock „ein städtebaulich prägendes Objekt am Marktplatz von Hopsten“ und „als Beispiel der barocken Bildstockgestaltung des westfälischen Typs von hoher Bedeutung“. Als „sakrales Denkmal“ steht er seit 1986 unter Denkmalschutz (Inventarnummer A 20). Im Jahr 2012 wurde der Bildstock gründlich gereinigt und überarbeitet. Das Foto entstand kurz nach dieser Reinigungsaktion.
