English: A single-axle hay tedder, nimbly pulled by a horse, guided by a farmer on a makeshift coach box was still the norm in Tauberland in 1960. The same applies to the still familiar picture of the clover bucks, 8 of which were already ready here with clover and grass to dry in the air, this required heavy manual labour with a pitchfork and rake. Another three or four will follow in the middle of the meadow. Note: a "zoom in" shows that the farmer or coachman is looking directly at the photographer Willem van de Poll at the moment the picture is taken. |
