Description
Nederlands: Bij het staalmaken werd tot 1990 bij KNHS blokvormen gebruikt. Het vloeibare staal werd hierin gegoten en eenmaal vol werden de blokken afgevoerd om af te koelen. De blokken werden naar beneden wijder waardoor het afgekoelde staal kon worden verwijderd. De staalblokken werden vervolgens weer opgewarmd en in de blokwalserij tot plakken en in de warmbandwalserij tot plaat gewalst. Later kwam het continue gieten van staal in gebruik waardoor het blokgieten buiten gebruik raakte.

KNSH heeft 12 blokvormen gebruikt met een inhoudsgewicht in de range van 9 tot 28 ton. De keuze van de vorm hing af van de gewenste kwaliteit en afmetingen van het te maken gewalste product.

Op het buitenterrein staan vier blokvormen opgesteld.
