Description
English: Hoofdpostkantoor, the former main post office in Utrecht. It was built in 1920, which was the last Dutch post office to be closed in 2011. On 23 April 2020, the new Broese Booksellers store was opened here by writer Ronald Giphart. The Central Library of Utrecht is also housed in the building. It was opened to the public on 11 May 2020. PTT Telecom used to be a co-user of this building. Offices and an amplifier station were located here, where the long-distance connections came together. In the 1990s, a large part of the telephone traffic in the province of Utrecht and the Betuwe was handled via this location.
