[edit]DescriptionHoodoos, Arches NP, Utah 8-25-12 (7993178505).jpg |
English: (1 in a multiple picture set) Utah has, I think, more National Parks and National Monuments that any other state in the U.S. An many of them have a geological feature not found in other states: the hoodoos. This are columns of sandstone that have eroded into a million different shaps. (Bryce Canyon is the most notable for these features.) The American Indians who lived in the area felt that each hoodoo was one of their departed descendents, and therefore considered them sacred. |
