English: Hood Hill's southern slopes According to the most recent OS maps, much of the southern flank of Hood Hill is open hillside. The true picture is somewhat different as there are plantations of conifer with open areas which were once pasture. The area seen in the photo is one such patch of old pasture which is now turning into scrub and light woodland, with a line of small trees across the picture which mark an old hedgeline. |
