Description
English: Honorary epitaph of William Russell Notman, Canadian Infantry Battalion. William Russell Notman (1890-1916) was a grandson of William Notman, the noted Montreal photographer. William Russell was fatally wounded in the Battle of the Somme and died October 25, 1916. He was 26 years old and had never married. Four months earlier, William Russell's younger brother Wilfred had been killed in action during the Battle of Ypres.

Il perd la vie le 25 octobre 1916 durant la Première Guerre mondiale, tombant au combat lors de la bataille de la Somme. Il a 26 ans et ne s'est jamais marié. Son frère cadet, Wilfred, avait été tué quatre mois à peine avant lui, lors de la bataille d'Ypres.
