Description
English: Honolulu, circa 1860–1861. Looking toward Kawaiahao Church from Punchbowl. A photograph by Dr. Hugo Stangenwald, who brought the first camera ever used in Hawaii for outdoor views. The date estimates by the Mission Houses Museum are unlikely since Stangenwald returned to Vienna in 1858 and returned to Honolulu in 1861 to take up the medical profession.
