Description
English: Honister Hause Youth Hostel.
  • Photo taken on an east to west coast-to-coast walk in 1975. Date stamp in a Post Office savings book indicates a withdrawal at Grasmere on the 13th, which would imply we stayed at Honister on the 13th or 14th August 1975, so the photo would be taken on 13th, 14th or 15th. It was a terribly hot summer and every photo from the two week trip shows the same hot, hazy muggy weather - unpleasant enough that two of our party of four had given up before halfway (mainly through blisters, though we had all walked the Pennine Way the previous summer without any trouble).
  • The photo was taken on Agfa CT21, at 100 ASA, a fast film for those days, but one I never liked the results of - I don't think I bought any more after this trip, though I set off from Whitby with four rolls.
