The quite welcoming, and upmarket (for the car's price) interior of the Fit. The Fit Sport is quite affordable, starting at $17,760 and including alloy wheels and many other upmarket equipment. This one costs a bit more because it has optional automatic transmission. Base Fit can be had for as little as $15,000. Due to the hatchback shape, the Fit is very versatile despite its small size. However, compared to newer models, this Fit, last redesigned in 2008, is showing a bit of age, with fuel economy "only" at 33 MPG. (The bigger Civic now gets 40 MPG.) Honda first introduced the Fit in 2001. Originally the proposed model name was Fitta, but that was dropped because Fitta is a very vulgar Nordic slang referring to a woman's private parts. The shortened name Fit was used in Japan and China, while Europe got a completely different name, Jazz; the Fit arrived in the US for the 2007 model year.
