Summary
[edit]DescriptionHomes For Heroes in Little Woodcote - geograph.org.uk - 688979.jpg |
English: Homes For Heroes in Little Woodcote At the end of World War I, Surrey County Council bought the Little Woodcote estate and built a goodly number of small semi-detached farm houses in an attempt to encourage returning servicemen to take up a farming career. All were identically designed with black weatherboarding and white window frames. The experimant was not an unqualified success, but some of the smallholdings are still in use as originally planned. |
