| Description |
English: Built around the turn of the 20th Century, this commercial building features a later alteration to the storefront at street level from when the building was home to the Home Banking Company. It is part of a set of five identical interconnected buildings with a shared band of thick rusticated stone trim above the second-floor windows, integrating the window lintels into its course, a thinner rusticated stone sill band, brick corbeled cornice, and five first floor retail spaces housing a variety of tenants. This storefront is the only surviving historic storefront on the block, and featuring doric pilasters, entrances flanking a central storefront window, an entablature with “Home Banking Company” carved into it, and an old night deposit box underneath the central storefront window. The buildings mostly house a furniture store, with a tavern in the adjacent retail space, and no apparent tenant in the Home Banking Company space. |
