Summary
[edit]DescriptionHoly Trinity Church from the inner harbour - 1956 - geograph.org.uk - 1477084.jpg |
English: Holy Trinity Church from the inner harbour - 1956 This is a wide view taking in the boat-building businesses in Commercial Road on the left, the town bridge, and on the near side of Holy Trinity, the edge of Chapelhay and North Quay. The large square brick building behind the bridge is the Georgian "Red Barracks" - now known as Wellington Court. There has been much redevelopment here on both sides with modern offices and apartment blocks.
In the 50`s the fishermen used to hang and spread their nets over the railings and pavement of North Quay at the bottom of Boot Hill. The men themselves were dressed in navy blue sweaters and hats and had brown crinkly faces and sometimes wore wading boots. |
