English: Holy Island Plays Its Part- Everyday Life on Lindisfarne, 1942 A group of men enjoy a pint at the bar of the Crown and Anchor, one of two pubs on the island of Lindisfarne. Behind the bar are 64 year old George Allison, the landlord, and a lady, who is pouring a drink. As well being the publican, George is the sergeant of the fishermen's Home Guard on the island. |
