English: Hollywood director William Reed directs his wife Eva Novak in the Australian movie The Romance of Runnibede. Note: Robert Dexter, Sydney editor of 'Everyone's Magazine', defended the importing of overseas stars before the 1927 Film commission: 'Beauty is the merchandise of the motion picture industry and Australia is particularly barren of beauty'. He added that of 1104 Australian girls screen tested, 'only 2 measured up to standard'.
