English: Hollybank Lane, Ripley. A less wintry view of 1154811 as it drops beside the castle flanking walls ("of coursed squared gritstone, approximately 400 metres long, 2.5 metres high with flat coping stones to the battlemented parapet" https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1174173 ) to cross Ripley Beck. A notice suggests that this was part of the Roman road from Aldborough to Ilkley. Today it is followed by the Nidderdale Way. |
