English: Gazing out of the excellent Aadams Bagel cafe, I spotted this ancient sign from a vanished (from this spot) coach operator of Walthamstow/Leyton. Prior to the 01 numbers, 520 the exchange would have been COPpermil (Walthamstow)l. These premises' 556 denoted RAGlan (Leyton and Leytonstone) The registered address was 213A Hoe Street but this sign relates to 357 and 357A next door, which was another address-perhaps a secondary garage and booking office? - and the site of some new infill housing. THis may have been a depot of the former Black and WHite (Walthamstow) or Classique Coaches, both of which were taken over by Grey-Green. The family running Greens were actually called Fallowfield, perhaps connected with another famous firm, Fallowfield and Britten of Hackney, also taken over by George Ewer in 1952

They also operated out of the Old Potato Market, York Way Kings Cross after 213A. The 1970s fleet of Greens was the usual dealer registered list of Bedfords with Duple and Plaxton bodywork,generally supplied new and completely uninteresting.

Just around the corner at the Bakers Arms, 543 Lea Bridge Road, used to be another famous and long vanished operator, Winwood's Coaches, E10, whose licences were taken over by George Ewer, specifically by the Fallowfield and Britten subsidiary. and now the site of the Sleeping Beauty Motel. The Grey Green coach station in Lea Bridge Road were located at no 479, the former Classique Coaches garage. Ewer also took over Black and White of Walthamstow and Majestic Coaches from the same place in the early 1950s.
