Description HOBOKEN, New Jersey (Oct. 4, 2016) — James Southworth, Investigator-in-Charge for the National Transportation Safety Board’s investigation of the Sept 29, 2016, crash NJ Transit’s Pascack Valley Line train #1614, receives the lead car’s video recorder in an anti-static bag from NTSB investigator Michael Hiller. Both the video and event recorders were recovered from the lead car Oct. 4, 2016, and transported to the NTSB’s laboratory in Washington, District of Columbia. Data captured on the recorders will be analyzed as part of the NTSB’s investigation to identify probable cause in the accident. It took more than three days to make the accident scene safe enough for investigators to access the lead car and retrieve the recorders. (NJ Transit Police photo by Detective Laquan Hudson)
