Description

Entrance sign in Hitch Wood, Hertfordshire. I did try to follow the blue waymark arrows but there weren't enough of them so I ended up just turning around and coming back out again. The OS map didn't help at all! At least it's open to the public, unlike Newton Wood.

According to notice pinned to some of the trees, Hitch Wood is ancient and semi-natural, contains oak, beech, sweet chestnut and hornbeam with some coniferous replanting, contains ancient woodland indicator species such as bluebells and contains some of the talles trees in Hertfordshire.
