| Description |
English: Up ECML express passing Hitchin. View northward, towards Peterborough and the North on the ECML, also Cambridge (right) and Bedford (by Midland, left); on the right is Hitchin Yard Box. The express, probably the 07.05 Bradford/07.30 Leeds 'West Riding' to King's Cross, is headed by - a very dirty - Gresley A4 4-6-2 No. 60008 'Dwight D. Eisenhower', which was built 9/37 as No. 4496 and named 'Golden Shuttle' until 9/45, withdrawn 7/63, preserved and sent to the USA for display at the National Railroad Museum at Greenbank, Wisconsin. |
