His education was ob-tained at Santa Clara College. California, andat St. Vincents College, at Cape Girardeau..Missouri. He studied law witii the firm ofMoore, Laine. Delmas and Lieb. at San Jose,and after a thorough courvie of preparation, hewas admitted to practice by the Supreme Courtin 1879. He immediately engaged in activepractice, and it was not long until he was rec-ognized as one of the hot lawyers in the city.In 1890 he was elected to the position of Su-perior Judge of Santa Clara county, an officewliich he has filled with grace, dignity andlearning.
