Finallythe guide said that he would go to the neighbor-hood west of there, as he knew that there weresome large farmers living in that neighborhood. The slave hunters left soon after the guide de-parted. They went a little way on the road toLynnville then went around a field coming into aneighborhood road that led toward the weat. Theydid not go far when they caught up with the guide, who aimed to return to Mr. Caswells as soon ashe thought the slave hunters would be gone. ROBERT P. HAWTHORNE.A Worker for the Anti-Slavery League. JOB TURNERS WORK it at the nearest mans head and told him to geton his horse, and if they made any further attemptto molest him he would kill all three of them. Hethen ordered them to return the way they cameand that he would follow them and if they didnot get out of this section of country, he wouldgive them a lesson they would long remember. That the reader may understand how theSharps rifle was carried, so that it would not beseen, I will explain. There was a leather strapthat had a snap at each end. This strap wentaround the left side of the neck and the two endscame together under the right arm where theywere snapped to a staple on the gun stock. Thisbrought the butt of the gun under the right armand it hung down two feet and eleven inches, (Imeasured the gun Mr. Hansen gave me, this morn-ing.) The gun was hid by the coat. When it waswanted for use, the left hand loosened the snapsand the weapon was in hand ready for use.
