June, born 2 Jan., 1869, at Port Crane, N. Y., son ofSilas and Harriet Adelia (Bunnel) June. A shoe cutter. Theyreside at Endicott, Broome Co., N. Y. Children: 1. MarianEthel, b. 21 Sept., 1902. 2. Lula Bell, b. 6 Aug., 1904. v. Helen Ethel Smith, born 14 April, 1887, at Union, N. Y. 483A (483) Julia Elizabeth9 Slocum (Humphrey? Joseph? Eleazer?John? Eleazer? Eleazer? Giles? Anthony?)was born 23 December,1844, near the Village of Northville, Fulton County, New York.She was studious, ambitious and persisting, and early completed thecourse of study in the Public Schools. Obtaining license to teach,she followed this profession several years near her fathers home.

fefuUaJ&.&t A AND THEIR ALLIANCES 357 The 5 January, 1871, she married James P. Lewis, who was bornin her native township (Northampton) 14 February, 1845, son ofHiram and Margaret (Doig) Lewis. Soon after their marriage theymoved to the Village of Beaver Falls, Lewis County, New York,where they have since resided. From his energy, good ideals and aspirations, Mr. Lewis madefriends rapidly, and was soon elected to the office of Justice of thePeace, in which office he served several years. He soon became in-terested in the manufacture of wood pulp for paper, later carryingon the process to its completion to paper for various uses, includingpressed plates. Improved machinery has been added from time totime until the product has materially improved, both in quantity andquality. He was largely interested in building the Lowville andBeaver Railroad, and he was chosen its President, which office henow holds (1906). He was also instrumental in the organizationof the National Pulp Boar
