cant. The Theological Seminary isestablished at Alleghany, near Pittsburg,under thecare of Rev. John T. Pressley,D. D., Profcssor.of Theology: Rev. JamesL. Dinwiddie, Professor of Biblical Criti-cism ; the Professorship of Church His-tory is vacant. 2. The West Sub-Synod, contains thefollowing Presbyteries : First Ohio, Chili-cothe, Springfield, Kentucky, Indiana, Il-linois, Michigan. It numbers about 40ministers, and 70 or 80 congregations,settled and vacant. The Theological Sem-inary is established at Oxford, Ohio, underthe care of the Rev. Joseph Claybaugh,D. D., Professor of Theology. III. The Synod of the South, containsthe following Presbyteries: First Carolina,Second Carolina, Georgia and Tennessee.The number of ministers is about 25, andof congregations 40. They have a Lite-rary and Theological Institution, called theClarke and Erskine College, in AbbevilleDistrict. The names of the Professors weare unable to give, though we understandthe College is in a flourishing condition.
