Dinwiddie, Professor of Biblical Criti-cism ; the Professorship of Church His-tory is vacant. 2. The West Sub-Synod, contains thefollowing Presbyteries : First Ohio, Chili-cothe, Springfield, Kentucky, Indiana, Il-linois, Michigan. It numbers about 40ministers, and 70 or 80 congregations,settled and vacant. The Theological Sem-inary is established at Oxford, Ohio, underthe care of the Rev. Joseph Claybaugh,D. D., Professor of Theology. III. The Synod of the South, containsthe following Presbyteries: First Carolina,Second Carolina, Georgia and Tennessee.The number of ministers is about 25, andof congregations 40. They have a Lite-rary and Theological Institution, called theClarke and Erskine College, in AbbevilleDistrict. The names of the Professors weare unable to give, though we understandthe College is in a flourishing condition.

One edition of his lectures waspublished in 1S36. Early in 1840, JoshuaV. Himes, a minister in the Christian Con-nexion, became a believer in these views,and commenced the publication
