||||
Description |
English: Several students on a boat wear life vests and look at names and images of historic local people in the War of 1812 Star-Spangled National Historic Trail: This partnership program with Living Classrooms Foundation provides professional development for cohorts of educators as well as meaningful outdoor educational experiences for their students. In turn, the teachers and students design, participate in, and share legacy learning projects with their broader school communities. In 2019, 497 students participated in shipboard curriculum-based education programs on the Star-Spangled Banner NHT, learning about the War of 1812 in the Chesapeake region and the events in their community, sharing their experiences through legacy learning projects with 5,723 people. After their sail on the Trail, one group of students spent 35 hours researching individual battles and writing scripts about them that they enacted and filmed at Fort McHenry in small teams.
