In 1889 the various Edison manufactories andthe Edison Electric Light Company were consolidated under thename of the Edison General Electric Company, of which he becamesecond vice president, in charge of the manufacturing and sellingdepartments, and when that company was combined with the Thom-son-Houston Company as the General Electric Company he waselected second vice president of the consolidation.
