Description
English: Azure, three water bougets or (within a bordure ermine) arms of John Bridges (1666–1724), of Barton Segrave, Northamptonshire, lawyer, antiquarian and topographer "Hospitii Lincolniensis Socio" (Bencher of Lincoln's Inn), to whom this image is dedicated. A portrait of Bridges, painted by Sir Godfrey Kneller in 1706, was engraved by George Vertue in 1726, shows the arms: Azure, three water bougets or within a bordure ermine, with the same motto. Arms of Bridges baronets, of Goodneston, Kent (cr.1718), and Bridges, Baron FitzWalter (cr.1868): Azure, three water bougets or within a bordure ermine (Burke, Sir Bernard, The General Armory, London, 1884, p.122).
