English: Histopathology of a blood vessel of the basal ganglia, displaying edema. It looks similar to a lacunar infarct, with a gap surrounded by disrupted (almost chicken wire-like) neuropil. Like a lacunar infarct, they sometimes also contain some inflammatory cells including siderophages (brown-golden cell in middle). H&E stain. |
