Summary

[edit]
Description Hippos in Lake Naivasha, Kenya. They spend much of their time submerged in water, letting out a water spout and grunting now and then. Hippos kill more tourists than any other animal in the wild, and are unpredictable beasts, with speed despite their massive size and clumsy appearance. Hippos are primarily herbivores, feeding on underwater plants. However, some specimens have been known to eat carrion, or even indulge in cannibalism, but these animals are more the exception than the rule. (Oct/ Nov 2010)
