Description
English: The female Hippopotamus "Bulette" that was born in 1952 at the Leipzig Zoological Garden. Shortly afterwards, it was transferred to the Berlin Zoological Garden were it lived until its death in 2005. During its lifetime of 53 years, it gave birth to more than 20 offspring. Bulette, named after a German word for "hamburger" or "meatball", was one of the most popular animals of the Berlin Zoological Garden and well known in Germany as a symbol of the Zoo.
