Description |
This was one of two buildings in Seattle that went by the Hippodrome name. This one story structure was built at 5th Ave. and University St. circa 1912. It served as a meeting space, dance hall and banquet facility. The building was demolished circa 1925 for construction of the Skinner Building. The other Hippodrome (also called the Empress Theatre and Majestic Theatre) was located at 2nd Ave. and Spring St. It was constructed in 1909 and demolished in 1981. The other building (1909-1981) was probably best known as the "Palace Hip". |
