The lawn is usually separated from the pasture by a lightiron-fence—from parks by a ha! ha! or sunk fence and terrace,as before described; its embellishments are beds of choice shrubsand flowers, formed upon it of various shapes, and by singleever-green trees or shrubs growing from the grass, and whichshould be distributed upon the same principles as are describedin the subject upon planting in general:—if these are judiciallydisposed they will harmonize the landscape with the building,and dismiss the nakedness that too commonly prevails in thelawns of villas in general.
