Description
English: Spc. Daniel Bocanegra, a Corpus Christi native and medic assigned to Company B, William Beaumont Army Medical Center, Fort Bliss, Texas, squeezes a foam football to help him stay clam during photorefractive keratectomy surgery that will, hopefully, restore his poor vision to 20-20 or better, Dec. 10. Maj. Tam Dang, (right),officer in charge of the WBAMC Warfighter Refractive Eye Surgery Center performs the procedure while Jessica Schnieder, a refractive laser technician adjusts computer settings to optimize the surgery. PRK (photorefractive keratectomy) is a type of refractive surgery to correct myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness) and astigmatism. (U.S. Army Photo by Sgt. James Avery)
