Deutsch: Himmelstoß-Tanne Die Tanne - Baum des Jahres 2015 Diese Tanne ist benannt nach dem legendären Forstdirektor Franz Himmelstoß, von 1953 bis 1967 Leiter des Forstbetriebes Steiermärkische Landesforste, da er sich für die Erhaltung der starken Solitärbäume massiv und nachdrücklich eingesetzt hat. Die Himmelstoß-Tanne fruktifiziert noch in unregelmäßigen Zeitabständen und sorgt so für unzählige Jungpflanzen! Tannen spielten einst eine wichtige Rolle in unseren Bergmischwäldern, wurden durch Forstwirtschaft und -wildverbiss stark zurückgedrängt und sind auch im Nationalpark Gesäuse noch unzureichend vertreten und daher besonders geschützt. Die größten Waldbäume Europas sind Tannen! Im Nationalpark Bayerischer Wald steht ein besonders mächtiges Exemplar, aber auch die Himmelstoß-Tanne überragt alle umliegenden Bäume. Abies Alba, Mill.; Umfang in Brusthöhe 3,75m; Baumhöhe 45 Meter; Alter>250 Jahre. |
