Description
English: The Himeji castle (aka the white heron) is one of the few remaining castle in Japan which survived the civil war in 1868-1869. Most castles in Japan burned during the civil war but most of them were rebuilt in the 20th century. The Himeji castle is registered as World Heritage Site by the UNESCO and as Japanese National Cultural Treasure.
Français : Le chateau de Himeji (surnommé le héron blanc) est l'un des derniers chateaux au Japon qui a survécu à la guerre civile entre 1868 et 1869. La plupart des chateaux furent brûlé mais reconstruit durant le 20ème siècle. Le Himeji-Jo est classé comme patrimoine mondiale de l'humanité par l'UNESCO et comme trésor national au Japon.
